What I liked at the Brighton University Graduate Degree Show 2011

After exhibiting last year, I popped down and had a look at this year's crop. There was the good, the bad, and the darn right ugly (you know who you are 'fine' art) but overall it was a pleasing show. Particular highlights were illustration artist Dan Woodger (click link) with his work 'Gator Dayz' http://www.danwoodger.com/1529490/Gator-Dayz and graphic designer Luke Tudor Griffiths http://www.hallider.co.uk. The Architecture show was solid, the quality was high but there was nothing too ground breaking.

My 3 Favourite photo's of the past 3 months

These 3 photo's were all taken using the Instagram app on my Ipod. It may be cheating but you can get some great shots so I'm not complaining. The first shot shows a very wrapped up Miss Mathers leaving her front door in Brighton sometime in February. It appears she may be setting out on an arctic adventure but in reality it was a short walk to the park to feed the (polar) ducks.

The second shot was taken at the shooting of a music video for the band 'Kakuzi'. My friend Ali was the DOP and here he is taking some close-ups of the extras.

The last shot I actually only just took today and is of my friend Kelsey sniffing the flowers in the sun.

The Honest Lawyer - Private Dwelling

Whilst working for Concept Design, the first project I had was to design a small house for a 1 or 2 students. Above is one of my original designs and below is a link to what the final house design will look like.

30 Pond Road - Private residence

Whilst looking for a permanent placement position - the all important 'PPP', (not to be confused with a regular 'PP' which I may need after I do this post) I answered an online advert for a trainee architect to help design a house in Trinidad. Such opportunities do not come around everyday and so I jumped at the chance. The client was hoping to move out there and wished to have a typical Caribbean styled home. After researching typical house types in the area, the client also provided a detailed list and sketches of what they wanted, making my task much easier. After just a week a design was set upon for which I also provided 3D's. It was a great experience and it should be going to site this time next year.

AT WORK - University of Brighton 2010 Undergraduate Architecture catalogue

Here is the design catalogue of my year and our work, titled 'At Work'. We were each given an A5 size area to fit in a small paragraph and a few key images of one of our projects in 3rd year. I chose the Social Condenser project. Considering we had only around a week to organize all the images, text, layout and printing, the end result was amazing and well worth the effort.
